Online Workshop
Education for Sustainable Development
The role of schools and universities for sustainability and democracy in the world.
 08 July 2022, 1:30 – 4:30 pm CET/UTC +1 (Germany)

What is education for sustainable development? How can we learn and teach sustainability? Which role universities and schools play in a movement towards sustainability and democracy in our world?

Sustainable development means to take on a long-term perspective and it means to look at the whole picture, at all the consequences of our doing and non-doing. It includes economic but also social aspects. It means in the end to strive for a peaceful co-existence of all creatures on this planet (plants, animals, humans) and to be careful with our resources. In this sense, education is far more than „schooling“. It takes place in our daily lives and it is about how we perceive the world around us and how we can participate and be self-efficient.

In this workshop, we want to go more into detail and hear about two approaches and experiences in/with education in a broad sense, which have started their activities out of a „problem“ and have created and still are creating a sustainable solution, which aims at enabling participation and democratization.
