Online conference

THE FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS FOR DEMOCRACY AND SUSTAINABILITY

The online conference opens a space in which people from the Global South and North can exchange views on how their joint educational work must develop further in view of current global challenges. We will look at structures, power relations, the way how we work together and support each other and the purpose of our common work. Therefore, we invite you to a four-part online conference consisting of four sessions of four hours each. In addition to expert impulses from external speakers, the online conference offers participants plenty of space to share their questions, experiences and wishes for the future of their educational partnerships.

Guiding questions:

  • What are the success factors to keep an international education partnership alive?
  • What is the frame of an international partnership that supports democracy and sustainability? How do we relate to the SDGs? What could be our common goals and purposes?
  • How can we build deep trust, what hinders us? What influence do existing power structures and colonial continuities have on our work in international partnerships?
  • What does solidarity mean in and for an international education partnership? How can the work in education partnerships strengthen civil society?
  • How do existing funding structures support and challenge our work? How can we overcome existing challenges?
  • What should participation and representation look like in a decolonial, diverse, equal, and low-hierarchy partnership?

Part I: December 11-12, 2024, 2-6 pm CET
Part II, March 21-22, 2025, 2-6 pm CET (this date might be changed slightly)
